Carbon Saver Standard™
The Carbon Saver Standard™ rewards organisations for their efforts to reduce carbon emissions. Our service provides a unique, cost effective, tiered approach to carbon certification.
The Environment Agency approved the Carbon Saver Standard™ as an equivalent scheme to the Carbon Trust Standard*. It is trusted by International brands, the largest public sector organisations and HM Government Departments.
The Bronze and Silver carbon standards offer a simple and cost effective way for smaller organisations to demonstrate their carbon reduction efforts. These standards reinforce their commitment to reducing carbon emissions and can subsequently secure and retain important supplier contracts for your organisation.
Bronze, Silver & Gold Standards
The rules and methodology for achieving the Carbon Saver Standard™ are the same for Bronze, Silver and Gold. All measure carbon emissions in the same way, but vary in the level of Carbon Management and emissions reduction investments.
This flexibility ensures that companies of all sizes and budgets can certify. Even those starting their carbon reduction journey can certify with the Bronze carbon standard, then upgrade to Silver or Gold depending on their customers or stakeholders needs.
Carbon Saver Gold Standard™
At Gold Level organisations submit their evidence pack. This is reviewed and checked by an independent assessor and site visits are completed to verify claims. Certification is issued as appropriate.
Their carbon management efforts are reviewed against 10 criteria:-
- External Reporting
- Reduction Programmes
- Products & Services
Gold carbon standard certification is subject to a 100% risk based audit.
Carbon Saver Silver Standard™
At Silver Level organisations are required to submit their evidence pack. This is reviewed and checked by an independent assessor and certification issued as appropriate.
Their carbon management efforts are reviewed against 8 criteria:-
- Reduction Programmes
Silver carbon standard certification is subject to a 25% risk based audit.
Carbon Saver Bronze Standard™
At Bronze Level organisations 'self-certify' their carbon emissions. They are required to maintain an evidence pack to back up and 'evidence' their claims.
Their carbon management efforts are reviewed against 5 criteria:-
Bronze carbon standard certification is subject to a 10% risk based audit.
Carbon Saver Pledge™
Organisations at the beginning of their Carbon Reduction Journey should start with a pledge to measure, manage and mininise their emissions. They can then work towards formal certification.
* The Carbon Saver Standard™ is a Carbon Trust Standard Equivalent Scheme. The Carbon Trust Standard rules and methodology v1.2 January 2010 have been adopted as a basis of The Carbon Saver Standard™ and we gratefully acknowledge their use.
